What is Neighborhood Renewal?

Neighborhood Renewal (ServErie 365) – 365 days a year, we will serve East 6th to East 12th and Holland Street to Wayne Street, an area we now refer to as ‘the footprint’. We partner with all the organization within and surrounding the footprint to connect those residents to the resources they need or would otherwise not have access to. We assist with exterior code compliance issues, service projects for residents, connect those residents with agencies for emergency needs, and also we are developing workforce development.

Who does neighborhood renewal serve?

Agencies, adults, children, young adults, homeowners, renters, landlords, government – anyone that needs to be connected to a resource.

How can volunteers get involved?

Volunteers can help residents with code compliance. You will work with a site leader or a contractor to help someone in the footprint to renovate their home. 1) lead a project, 2) be a part of a team, 3) offer a skill – concrete, painting, landscaping, roofing, masonry, 4) offer relationships, 5) offer prayer – pray for the footprint.

What projects are there? What does neighborhood renewal look like?

We have the 1) Neighborhood Resource Center – construction starts Summer 2019 – we need your help on the planning team OR with construction/demolition, 2) community parks – we have two parks this year we are converting from blighted to a relaxing space for surrounding neighborhoods, 3) 6th Street Renaissance Block Grant – we are working on curb appeal for residents all along 6th Street within the footprint, 4) Neighborhood clean-ups – we partner with Eastside Eagles to assist with their efforts in cleaning up the community many times over the summer, 5) Volunteer at an organization like Bethany Outreach Center/Climate Changers/ St. Martin Center/Multicultural Resource Center/ St. Benedict’s/Community of Caring/Eastside Eagles/SafeNet with any one of their initiatives in the community.
