FAQ

We will update the FAQ section as we move forward.

Q: When is Marcus’s last day with ServErie.

A: Marcus will finish up on August 14, 2020.

Q: When will ServErie hire a new executive director?

A: ServErie’s board of directors is working on a process to recruit a new executive director. Current duties and responsibilities are being distributed amongst the staff and board of directors to keep ServErie fully functioning during this process. At this time, the hiring process is expected to last several months.

Q: How does this transition affect the work ServErie is currently doing within the community?

A: ServErie’s mission in the Erie Community remains the same, “to restore communities by connecting people in need to resources.”  We will keep moving forward with our signature programs: Neighborhood Renewal, Tool Bank, ServErie Saturdays, and Summer Project.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we have made necessary adjustments to these programs. This year’s Summer Project is in motion and we are delivering care packages in the Heritage District Summer Project zone through the month of August. We will continue small, social distancing style volunteer efforts in Heritage District for the remaining weekends this summer. In addition, ServErie will continue our work with the Erie County Government and MaskErie to meet the broader needs of the community as we transition into the school year.

Q: How can I help?

A: There is still time to participate in this year’s Summer Project by putting together care packages. You can get details here. In addition, your financial donations are used to support all aspects of ServErie’s programs and operations. If you would like to donate, you can do so here. Volunteers are the core of ServErie’s work and there is always something to be done. If you’re interested in volunteering, click here.

Q: I have a question that’s not answered in this FAQ, who can I contact?

A: Executive Director Transition and Funding: email lisa@serverie.com, Lisa Holman, Board Chair

Programs and Projects: email ashley@serverie.com, Ashley Westgate, Community Coordination Lead

I would like to acknowledge Marcus Atkinson’s outstanding service and thank him for leaving ServErie in such a strong position. ServErie is now an important voice and a well-trusted organization in the Erie region.  Marcus has been a very committed and capable Executive Director. I join with his peers, staff and my colleagues on the ServErie Board in wishing him the very best for the future and the new opportunities that Marcus will enjoy in the next phase of his life and career.

Lisa Holman, Board Chair

During my time as Executive Director of ServErie, we have seen great growth and made many strides toward helping those in need in our community. I am most proud of the summer of 2018 that we referred to as “The Summer of Hope.” The dual renovation of Pfeiffer Burleigh and the Booker T. Washington Center, creation of Heritage Park on 7th and Cedar, surveying efforts alongside the mayor and City Hall in the east bay front area and multiple other projects all were launched and completed that summer. I feel confident that I am leaving ServErie in good hands, not only with the Board of Directors and Staff, but all of the amazing volunteers and donors who give of their time and resources whenever called upon. I look forward to working alongside ServErie in the future. I have great hope that Erie will continue to move forward. We are all in this together
